Most of us are aware of the fact that many things in our world has changed over the course of time. There are things that never stay the same, however there are other traditions that have stayed exactly the same, or at least have changed very little since their beginnings. One of the things that has not changed very much at all since its beginning is the tradition of martial arts that has been a part of most eastern cultures since their beginnings. If you go to a karate or jiu jitsu match today, chances are that it has not changed very much since the beginning of the sport all of those years ago.

Jiu jitsu itself is considered by many to be a Japanese invention that was invented many years ago. For the most part, it is used as a form of recreational sport that allows fighters to show off their skills in the ring. Fortunately the sport has not changed that much, however, those who compete and officiate the sport have had to make some changes in order to continue the sport and keep everyone safe at the same time. Any time you decide to learn jiu jitsu or any other form of martial arts, there is always the risk of injury. There are those who think that these kinds of sports are just like the movies that they have seen in the past, and to some extent, it is true, they do use real moves, but it is important to know that if you decide to compete, the chances of getting hurt are very real.

There have been other strides that have been made in the world of martial arts, but the most important one has been made in the new safety rules and regulations. For instance, there are strict rules that govern the conduct of the competitors in order to ensure that they are competing in a fair manner, and not doing anything that is going to purposefully injure their opponent. In some forms of martial arts, there are rules that state that those who are going to compete have to do so with gloves, and the gloves that they are going to be using are not allowed to be manipulated in any way.

Another way that safety has changed the sport of martial arts is by the employing of a referee. The referee is there to make sure that both competitors follow the rules, and they are also there to help to determine a true winner.

Most of us have lived long enough to see major change in the world. There are very few things that do not change in the world, but it would seem like the world of martial arts is not one of them.

Whether you decide to learn jiu jitsu or some other form of martial arts, you can be sure that the form of the sport that you are practicing has not changed very much in the many years that people are practicing it.
